Victory Lawrence Oyeyemi's debut, 'In Pursuit of Her,' addresses healing, identity, purpose, and womanhood.
The book was unveiled on May 9th at Waterside, Lekki Phase 1, before a gathering of women from various backgrounds. According to witnesses, the venue was filled, and the atmosphere reflected strong interest in the book's central themes.
Vicctory, who is trained as an accountant, described the book as a deeply personal project shaped by her own journey of healing, self-discovery, and the determination to move beyond survival-mode living.
Speaking after the launch, she said the goal of In Pursuit of Her is to inspire young women to embrace continuous growth, healing, and self-discovery rather than merely existing or coping with life passively.
The book explores several themes, including healing from emotional wounds, rediscovering identity and purpose, the importance of healthy female relationships and community, personal transformation, and breaking free from limiting patterns.
Victory disclosed that during the writing process, she spoke with numerous women from different backgrounds, documenting their struggles, emotional battles, and life experiences. Those conversations, she said, were transformed into reflective coaching-style sessions woven into the book to help readers feel seen and empowered.
Industry observers note that across Nigeria, more women are seeking safe spaces, relatable stories, and practical guidance that reflect local realities, a gap Victory's book appears to be filling.
Beyond the book, Victory has launched The Becoming Circle, a community platform where women share issues, exchange ideas, and develop solutions together. The platform is designed for women who are intentional about personal growth through honest conversations, shared experiences, accountability, and mutual support.
"In Pursuit of Her is not just a book you read and forget," Victory said. "It is an invitation to become. And The Becoming Circle is where that becoming continues."
As part of the movement's expansion, Victory also plans to visit schools to speak directly to young women about identity, purpose, confidence, healing, and the importance of intentional becoming before life forces them into survival mode.
In Pursuit of Her is currently available on Amazon (international), Selar (digital access), Tebeeba, and as a hard copy. Live book reading sessions and community conversations are expected to begin soon.
